Bunch of No Names reach UNO League Finals after B2A collapse late
By Jonah
With two minutes left in the fourth quarter, B2A was set to punch their ticket to the UNO League Finals before an epic collapse.
An unexpected 10-0 run from Bunch of No Names delivered a shocking comeback to win 63-61 to punch their ticket to the Finals.
“They didn’t give up. They didn’t waver at all. They wear their heart on their sleeves,” said Bunch of No Names coach. “Even the MC was against us and they still pull through.”
Multiple crucial turnovers from B2A late sent a team riddled with chemistry issues out of the playoffs, putting an end to their season.
“I don’t know if we were scared or just being caught up too much in the moment, we weren’t able to just handle pressure,” said Prince.
B2A controlled the tempo early, building a significant lead that seemed to almost assure them a spot in the championship but hailing from the west side, Bunch of Names refused to back down.
Despite B2A’s star player Prince dropping 18 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks the team struggled to get contributions elsewhere.
Isaiah of B2A committed a crucial late with 40 seconds left that allowed A Bunch of No Names to tie the game. Moments later, another costly turnover from Isiah led to a game-sealing steal by Hafith, who turned the tide entirely in his team's favour.
Isaiah committed an eight turnovers on the night, but led B2A with 21 points.
“The mandem trusted me,” said Hafith. “Mans came clutch what can I say?”
Hashi reflected on the season and admitted it was a “championship or bust” run for him. Putting up just three points on the night, he called it a "failure" but said he had fun and vowed to return next season with the same roster despite rumoured chemistry issues.
The UNO League Finals is set now with the top two-seeded teams in Bunch of No Names and VSO going head to head for the championship.
