No Stars, No Problem: Defending Champs VSO Dominate Smile for Sache Without Main Roster
The reigning Uno League champions, VSO, didn't need their full roster to remind the league why they hold the crown. Despite missing several of their main players, VSO cruised to a commanding 64-57 win over Smile for Sache in the third game of Season 2. With depth and discipline on display, VSO looked every bit like the team to beat-again.
The champs wasted no time asserting themselves. Lay led the charge with 17 points, slashing through the defense with ease and finishing through contact.
Jeremiah added 11 points of his own, while Pu's sub continued his sharp play with 11 points, 3 assists, and strong floor leadership. Even with MVPs like Shae and Buck sitting out, VSO didn't flinch-rotational players stepped up, kept the game in control, and delivered on both ends.
In post-game interviews, VSO had no interest in long answers or analysis. When asked about the absence of their main guys or whether they felt pressure to defend their title, the only reply that came from the locker room?
"Belt to ass." A clear signal that the champs are still on business time. Smile for Sache's Moody, who dropped a game-high 24 points with five threes, did his best to keep things close, but the rest of his squad couldn't match VSO's collective energy. Moose chipped in with 9 points, but no one else cracked double digits.
Statistically, VSO shot an efficient 26-for-41 from the field, with 20 total rebounds and only 1 turnover all game—a clean, composed outing. Lay's 17 led the way, followed by Jeremiah and Pv with 11 each. Smile for Sache hit 10 threes but couldn't get enough production inside the arc. With this win, VSO starts their title defense at 1-0, and they're already reminding the league: star players or not, the belt stays close.
